3 weeks before my wedding Amplified Soul saved me from having a nervous break down! I wasn’t happy with the makeup person I had originally booked, so my wedding planner told me to book a trial with Amplified Soul because they had a fresh look, and this was probably the best advice she had given me. They squeezed me into their schedule and were so much fun to work with, totally relaxed and professional, and so fast! On your wedding day, you don’t have a single minute to waste, and I was fortunate enough to have saved so much time because they got me ready in half the time I had budgeted! Because they were doing hair and makeup at the same time, I didn’t have to sit in a chair for 3 hours waiting for one, or the other to get done. I wish I had some before and after shots because the transformation was amazing. Everyone remarked at how great my hair and makeup looked, and what impressed me the most was after a crazy night of dancing, my makeup looked as fresh as and as when it was first applied it in all my pictures, no touch ups were ever required. Always keeping their attention to detail, after getting me ready, the girls took their time to survey how I looked, then added small finishing touches, and reinforcements, to ensure I was confident and looking my best.

At other makeup trials I had seen, or been to, I found the makeup looked cakey, amateur, or boring, but because of Shobana’s background in applying commercial makeup, her look was so clean, it was like I wasn’t even wearing makeup! Nisha did an amazing job with my hair, even visiting relatives from India were shocked at how well put together my jura was, and I never felt like my hair was uncomfortably tight causing those infamous headaches you hear about! The entire process seemed so effortless but the end result was fabulous!

Amplified Soul were highly recommended to me when it came time to find hair/makeup artists for my wedding.

I went in for the trial, somewhat unprepared and unsure of what I actually wanted because I didn’t wear makeup, nor had I ever styled my hair. Shobana and Nirisha listened intently to which I’m sure confused the heck of out them at the time!They offered to go slow with the transformation and that I had the final say at the end of the day. From that time forward, I felt totally at ease with them. They were very understanding, flexible and patient with me. They had some great, fresh ideas and I could tell that their work was atypical and individual based. By the end of the trial I had full faith and trust in Shobana and Nirisha, and booked them for my wedding right away.

I had stumbled upon the Amplified Soul website while searching for vendors on-line and knew, at first glance, that I’d found the gals for me. I loved the pics on their site, their great attitude, and that they gave back to causes they believe in. Humming the song from their site (so catchy, I still hum it sometimes!), I emailed them and I crossed my fingers that they’d be free for my wedding day.

The girls came to my home for a trial. This was *huge* as I don’t have a car (city gal) and I run my own business which leaves very little ‘me’ time.That they made every effort to make beauty truly effortless was something I really appreciated.

Here’s the thing though: I don’t usually wear makeup nor do much more than blow-dry my hair. A little eyeliner and gloss and running a straight iron though the ol’ frizz is my idea of high glamour. So on the day of the trial, I was oh-so-slightly terrified. In an awe-struck stupor, I watched the girls arrive with what seemed to me to be a full-on arsenal of beautification…But the fear was short-lived. They quickly had me laughing and joking … and fully made up! I looked in the mirror and just stared. “Who is this girl?”, I thought, unnerved. But then it hit me — this was me, but with late-nights at work erased and not a blemish on my face. “Goodness”, I thought. “I look like a bride!”

All joking aside, the girls found separate bridal and reception looks for me that not only complimented my two outfits to a tee but also addressed my most important concern: in full bridal make-up, I still wanted to look like me. When that antarpat came down, I wanted Geoff to see his girl of nine years sitting across from him. Except a little prettier than usual 😉

On the day of the wedding, while Shobana put the finishing touches on my eyes and Nirisha smoothed my last fly-away, getting ready felt special and glamourous but also relaxing and 100% natural.

So much so, that I (now a beauty-product convert) have already excited tried out many of the pearls of wisdom that I picked up from S&N during the time we spent together: from finding the right foundation, to current opinions on hair removal, to maintaining my layered tresses, to creative esthetic uses for eyelash glue…

I couldn’t have been happier with my experience with Amplified Soul. These gals are *pros*!

For my wedding which was the most important day of my life, it was very important for me to look my best. For this reason I wanted have someone who was professional, reliable, artistic, organized, efficient, eager, kind and someone who was good at what they do. Amplified Soul was all that and much more. I found both Shobana and Nirisha to be extremely friendly, and very efficient. They helped me get ready in the morning for my wedding and my reception and for both times they were able to get me ready within 1.5 hrs. They were both very honest and they both cared about making me look my best. Due to lack of time prior to the wedding I did not have a trial with them but i had enough confidence in them to do a great job which they did. I told them what i liked and disliked and based on that they were able to fulfill my expectations. During the panning stages I also called and emailed them several times and they were excellent in responding to both in a timely fashion which I really appreciated. If I had to recommend someone for bridal services or for hair and makeup to one of my family members or friends, i would definitly recommend Amplified Soul. I had the pleasure of meeting Amplified Soul last year when I was part of a fashion show. Along with her sweetness, I knew Nirisha was no amateur when she was able to style my long mane into beautiful thick curls, and was straightforward and frank with her feedback regarding the texture and length of my hair. She was confident in recommending products and styling techniques to me, and was even able to suggest the right colour/highlights and type of cut for my hair texture. Now I have to admit I have commitment-phobia when it comes to hair stylists many times because I never felt any stylist understood my skin tone, and I never felt my voice was heard. From that one experience having my hair styled by Nirisha , I knew I had to find her and see what type of magic she could work. Since that day, Nirisha has been my hair stylist and has truly listened to and interpreted my ideas in such an amazing way, that I’ve received dozens of compliments on my colour and cut, and now have several friends who also utilize her services. She has taught me how to style my hair correctly using the right blow dryer, brush and products, and I’ve been able to finally master styling my own hair. I’ve also had her style my hair in up-do’s for some weddings I’ve attended, and despite the texture and short length of my hair, she was able to skillfully set my hair into such beautiful styles that guests at these weddings have stopped me to ask where I get my hair done. And those up-do’s have lasted through many hours of non-stop dancing!!

I was floored with Shobana’s confidence, knowledge and command of her work, while still being so friendly and easy-going. I am always hesitant to have my make-up done for fear of the wrong foundation colour, or overdone eye make-up, etc. I distinctly remember looking in the mirror and thinking how I still looked like myself but with a much more polished look. She has also done my make-up for weddings and was able to complement my outfit perfectly but still kept it natural looking and radiant. I remember receiving so many compliments at that wedding and not having to worry about my make-up as it stayed put all night despite the crazy dancing, and I knew I had found the perfect artist for me! I contacted her after the wedding, and Shobana was so kind and helpful in recommending what specific products she used on me (e.g. foundation, concealer, powder) and where I could buy them. Even once I purchased the products and had certain questions about application or techniques, Shobana was more than willing to help me. I am happily still using those recommended products and have been so satisfied with them, that I’ve also recommended them to some friends.

I wanted to finish off by saying that both Shobana and Nirisha have demonstrated their abundant knowledge and skill for make-up and hair. They both radiate confidence in their work, which has made me feel at ease when they are working on me; they know how to play up my best features or compensate for other issues (e.g. short hair while styling an up-do, or bags under the eyes!). They also are so friendly and down-to-earth that I feel like I’m spending time with some good girlfriends as opposed to some hired ‘strangers’, as they love to crack jokes and converse about a variety of topics. I specifically remember my father making them tea as they were getting my mother and I ready for my brother’s wedding, and they actually took the time to sit down for a few minutes, have some tea and snacks and chat with us instead of rushing out and asking for a payment. I must also mention how these two go above and beyond what is expected of them, as they helped me when I was in a bit of a ‘wardrobe bind’ at a wedding they also attended, by taking the time to assist me, just like good friends would. It was an appreciated gesture as it was outside of their ‘work time’.

I could keep going but there are so many reasons I choose to recommend these two to anyone I know who is in the market for hair/make-up services. I believe their refreshing and friendly personalities along with their amazing skill and knowledge make these two an unbeatable duo!
