My lovely clients this year embraced the Pantone Color of the Year, emerald green. Although playing with color is an artists’ dream, I was surprised at the number of ladies that actually took to it.
The key to working this color making sure its not too abstract and is part of a harmonious over all look. You can wear it fun and trendy or soft and elegant.
On the left, Garima, the maid of honour had fun with the color. She pulled colors from her outfit. The green popped but was subtly blended out on her eyes. She chose a complimentary bold lip in fuchsia (NARS Funny Face to be exact.) Why did so much color work? Because they were complimentary and Garima’s features and personality can pull off lots of color. There’s enough space between her features so that the color application isn’t concentrated.
On the right, Anum, a bride, incorporated the green into a smokey eye, which was more subtle, complimenting her neutral and elegant outfit. The green made her eyes bright and stand out. We kept the lips neutral, which was in her comfort zone, keeping with the overall feel of her look, soft elegance.
If green shadow eye shadow is too much for you, try using a green liner on the top and bottom of your eye or just on your bottom. Check out this older post for ways to wear emerald green.
