There was a lot more color at this awards show in addition to the classic reds, blacks and whites, reminding us that spring is around the corner. Blue was the most popular, with purples, greens and pinks popping up here and there. I was particularly swooning over the beautiful embellishments and shimmery goodness casting a feminine feel on the carpet.
Navy Blue was definitely the pantone of the SAGs. It’s a regal and powerful color, with a magical feel that actresses from young to old wore with class. Jennifer Lawrence and Amanda Seyfried went with sleeveless, solid colored structured gowns and Nicole Kidman looked feminine in her embellished Vivienne Westwood masterpiece. Your face has to be as striking as the color otherwise you’ll look washed out. Try deep lips and soft grey smokey eyes.
Is pink back to stay, or is it just a fad? Just in time for spring, dark haired beauties like Frieda Pinto and Lea Michelle looked blushing in this color. We especially loved the flirtatious nature of the coral pink that Lea and Nina Dobrev chose, which compliments deep skin tones. I recommend bringing a little of this color into your makeup, whether on the cheeks or lips to balance out the brightness.
January Jones, Julianne Marquilies and Marion Cotillard looked playful and funky, while their contrasting silhouettes highlighted their best features. Light colors showoff and dark color hide. So you can see why a gown made of 2 contrasting colors can be a girl’s best friend, although we’re sure these actresses have nothing to hide. Since there is alot going already, we recommend sleek hair and soft but there makeup.
These trends are all beautiful color and work inspiration for the modern day bride when planning her bridal party outfits. Just imagine the coral pinks? Interestingly enough, these trends are also prominent in South Asian bridal wear. You will see a trends piece I did in the Suhaag 2013 Magazine where navy blues and contrasting colors are on trend!
